Another Slacker Hike Up Potato Mountain
I've been feeling a bit under the weather for something like a month now, so I was kind of anxious to get out and do some hiking. I had hoped to zip up to the Ski Hut, but there was a bit more snow than I'd expected, and there was a bit of a traffic jam getting up there.
I even got a bit hung up on a little patch of ice after a Jeep stopped inexplicably just beyond it (forcing me to stop on the ice). I revved the engine and got off, but decided I'd had enough of traffic and people.
I went back down and hiked Potato Mountain instead. It's just as well -- it was cold out and I was happy enough just be outdoors. I turned back a bit early, as I didn't want to overdo it after a month of slacking. On my way back down the mountain, while bundled up in longjohns, a fleece jacket, and a shell, I passed some kid hiking up in shorts and a t-shirt. Yeesh!
