Mt. Lukens

I went 9 miles and 3000' up Mt. Lukens today with the Wednesday hikers. The day started out rainy (I wasn't sure the hike would go), but we lucked out and didn't get rained on. We did spend almost the entire hike climbing through clouds, but that was kind of cool.

We left from George Deukmejian Wilderness Park, hiking up a road for a half mile or so, then up a steep trail for quite a while, then finishing up on a road for the last mile or so. The peak had been bulldozed pretty heavily, so it wasn't a very comfortable spot to lunch, but it was okay. By the time I made it back down, I was exhausted.

Oh, well, it was a fun hike, and I enjoyed picking up another HPS peak.
