Pacifico Mountain

I headed off to conquer Pacifico Mountain today with F. I'd talked him into leaving at 10AM, despite the shortening days. This was a big win, as I didn't get to bed 'til 1:30AM.

The hike was pretty easy compared to my previous efforts; the trail just kind of sloped up very gently, with only a steep bit for the last quarter mile. Aside from the chilliness of the day (it was something like 45 F), it was a beautiful day.

I kinda wussed out about climbing the Class 2 summit block, as the rock was bitingly cold and my shoes weren't really gripping too well. Or maybe I was just too clumsy. Oh, well.

We zipped down the mountain and managed to make it out just before sunset, around 4:30PM. F. had warned me that we might not make it out before dark, and he was close to right. If we hadn't hustled down the mountain, we probably would've finished in the dark. That's not too big a deal; I certainly had at least one flashlight, if not two, along, so it wouldn't have been too tough. But, yeah, next time I'll start a bit earlier!
